After all the fun , today was the lesson day in history and geography of the area but not so bad, there was lot of fun stuff too so please read on. The day was stormy and unusual and COLD ( 60 F)
Day started with my standard ten Suraynamaskar, breakfast of Uttapam and then the Museum. It was supposed to be a “small” museum but like all other good museums it was a never ending one. It was small in size but LARGE in tour group’s lists. There were Europeans, Japanese and Chinese tour groups and of course Indians too. It was so crowded that going through the narrow dark alley I panicked a little and had to hold on to Jagdish for a while. ( I figured out that some people talk very loudly and in a narrow dark space their voices echo and then the pushing does not help either .
But the museum is wonderful lesson in history. You see the 3000 BC finds as well as the life of people in the desserts. It is very well done and lots of things to see and learn but I wish they will control the crowds and make it more stream lined.
Anyways after the museum we wandered around in the alleys of the old cloth market and ended up near the Creek walk. Very pleasant walk with lots of boats ( tourist and commercial ) buzzing about and a sinking bus too) .
Neeru picked us up and took us for the world wind tour of Dubai area. We toured the fancy marine line area with huge banglows and beautiful skyline . Then on to necessary tourist stop of Burj Arab ( the fanciest hotel in the world) , then out to Medina ( designed on the old Arab bazaar concept) to JBR , a very fancy European style development with wide side walks lines with cafes, cobble stone roads and a beach with fine sand and ALL IMPORTANT WARM WATER J I had to go in the water and Arushi helped make that happen, I am very thankful to her for that.
The evening ended with a long philosophical discussion over coffee and pastry in the Egyptian theme complex. This is the last night at Dubai.
I am amazed by the opulence and the international flavor of the place and people. It seems more like a Disney theme park than a real live city state and I keep wondering if it is all real , but it is all here. There is lot be said about it but I will like to end it just by saying that the place is amazing and a big thank to our hosts for showing so much in so little time. GOOD NIGHT from the wonderland
