I slept till 7am today. Finally the Jet Lag may be over J
We had a date with Aditi at the beach. She lives a mile away on the beach. Met up with her around 10am. The beach is different at that time. Dogs lazing around, slum kids just horsing around and the school field trip. Lots of good photo opportunities for me….
Aditi ( my niece) met with her two year old Vedu and his maid ( they always travel with maids) . I took Vedu in the water. I was waiting for an excuse to go in the water and Aditi  was ok with it. ( it turned out that was the first time he had gone in the water , even living just behind the beach). We had a great time for an hour or so.
Drove through the normal streets of Mumbai to the newest and the biggest shopping mall in Mumbai. It is huge and all the necessary brands and of course McDonald, KFC etc BUT NO STARBUCK ( not In India yet) . The mall has the roller coaster and other child friendly rides and it is nice. But, still not like the USA malls or Dubai, there is something about the construction that is not the same quality but it is still very clean, five stories and big. It had a nice combination of east and west shops . We ate Chinese food at the mall. Chinese food here tastes little different but very tasty.
We are back home ,resting and blogging. We are going to my other niece's home for dinner and may be late and exhausted at night, so I will post this blog now.
Tomorrow is India's independence day and there were many celebrations in the schools. I remember when we used to be so excited , had all day sports, parades and lots of patriotic stuff all day along. It seems like now people are to self centered, may be jaded , or disappointed or just more world citizens but the celebration is definitely very understated.

Other big news here is about the literary festival in Jaipur.  Richard Dawkins , Oprah Winfrey , Salmon Rushdie and many many other intellectuals  are in India. The fundamentalists did not let Rushdie talk threatening a " blood bath" ...I wonder when they will make Dawkins stop talking too :(
